The European Rural Development Network (ERDN) has been established as a forum for the exchange of ideas and research experience, and a platform for cooperation between Polish and European research and development institutions in the field of rural development and agriculture.
The primary goal of the European Rural Development Network is the exchange of research results in areas that are challenging both for individual Member States and candidate countries, and for the European Union's development policy. The activity of ERDN is fully in line with the EU idea of building a European Research Area for agriculture and rural development.
The network structure of the ERDN allows for the creation and strengthening of mutual contacts between scientists from various research units in order to:
- analysis of the status, prospects and action strategy in the field of rural development in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe;
- international and intergenerational knowledge transfer through joint research in the field of rural development;
- deepening international scientific cooperation in the field of rural development and agriculture, based in particular on the experience of the network in international research programs;
- exchange and promotion of the experiences and scientific achievements of the EYN participants in order to support decision makers and stakeholders dealing with the sustainable development of European rural areas.
Network members' efforts to study rural processes provide a wealth of information to understand the specificities of rural development, especially in the context of reforms and EU policy extensions.By becoming a member of the ERDN, the Faculty of Economic Sciences has joined the leading universities and research institutions dealing with rural development in Central and Eastern Europe, such as: Institute of Agricultural and Food Economics, National Research Institute (Poland), Institute of Rural and Agricultural Development, Polish Academy of Sciences (Poland); Institute of Geography and Spatial Organization, Polish Academy of Sciences (Poland); Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation, National Research Institute (Poland); Federal Institute of Agricultural Economics (Austria); International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (Austria); Lithuanian Institute of Agrarian Economics (Lithuania); Institute of Landscape Ecology of the Academy of Sciences (Czech Republic); Institute of Agricultural Economics (Romania); Institute of Geography (Slovak Republic); Research Institute of Agricultural Economics (Hungary); Institute of Agricultural Economics (Serbia); Institute for Economics and Forecasting (Ukraine); Institute of Agricultural Economics and Information (Czech Republic); Poznań University of Life Sciences (Poland); University of Debrecen (Hungary); Bila Tserkva National Agrarian University (Ukraine); University of Kragujevac (Serbia); University of Foggia (Italy); Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (Czech Republic); University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Cluj-Napoca (Romania).
