Objectives and Description
The course aims to help participants develop soft skills and communicate effectively with people from different cultures in the workplace.

Participants will learn about selected theories and models of culture and understand how cultural differences influence the way people think and act. They will learn to recognise, describe and analyse cultural misunderstandings and conflicts in work-related situations and how to respond to them in an appropriate and culturally sensitive way.

Participants will also reflect critically on their own soft skills, behaviour and ways of thinking. Through presentations and practical activities, they will improve their presentation skills in English while discussing topics related to soft skills and multicultural communication.

Methods and outcomes
The course will include short presentations, group discussions, practical tasks, case studies and teamwork. Participants will share their experiences and work together on situations related to cultural differences and communication in the workplace.

Topics:
- Culture: definitions, values, self-reflection, cultural theories and models.
- Transferable soft skills in the world of work.
- Critical incident analysis.
- Working in international teams.

Virtual Component Description
The online part will take place in February 2027 and will involve all participants. During the virtual meeting, participants will take part in getting-to-know-you activities and group tasks, learn about the partner universities, receive instructions on the Moodle tasks to be completed by 19 March 2027, and get an overview of the BIP programme.
